It was reported that the novel Coronavirus strain, first discovered in September, had spread rapidly within three months. Variants of the virus have been found in Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, Israel, Singapore and Australia. In addition, new strains of the virus have been found in South Africa, Portugal and Ecuador, unrelated to those found in the UK. New strains of the virus have also been found in Brazil, but it is not clear if they are the same as those found in the UK.
